I was going into a popular mall but it was empty for this time of year. I was in the lobby outside of a store and I saw my younger brother and when I got closer I realized, my mother, also, sitting looking out the window. Somehow in the dream I knew my brother's friend had passed away (note, he has a friend from high school who has a terminal illness she was born with; she is in hospice now but has not passed) So, I went over to try to talk to him because in the dream I knew he had just been to the funeral and he wasn’t really talking about it. Then I noticed my mother's hair had gone completely grey and white (it is now light brown just a few grays) and I almost did not recognize her and she did not have much to say. Next scene it flips to me driving my car with my brother as passenger, driving up the street I grew up on. I am driving up the wrong way as it is a one way street in real life but I didn’t seem to notice. There is a temple across the street (in real life it is there as well) and my brother was talking about some things he wasn’t happy with (vague, don’t recall) and I looked out the window and outside the temple were a giraffe, a gorilla, and a zebra tied to a pole grazing. I told him he had nothing to worry about in life as long as he had jungle animals living right outside his door.
Dream Overview: This dream is one where it forewarns the dreamer that there are changes that are to come. Such changes can and will be weathered if the dreamer maintains her focus, balance, and turns to assistance when it is needed. This dream also suggests that the dreamer has many supportive friends and family members.
Primary Symbols:
Giraffe: Since the giraffe is an animal with a rather long neck, this animal reference may be suggesting that the dreamer should not “stick her neck” out for just anyone, but in the context of this dream the Giraffe suggests that there are people waiting to help out when needed, “just outside the front door,” and close to home. Such individuals might “risk their necks” in order to be of assistance when needed. Giraffes can be amazingly aggressive when warranted, and this might suggest that the dreamer has people directly within reach that will do their utmost to assist and protect her.
Gorilla: The gorilla is a symbol which represents potential friendship formations based on strong ties. The gorilla, when provoked, can become rather aggressive and has little trouble making its intentions clear. Since there is no suggestion that the gorilla is behaving aggressively in this dream, it suggests that the dreamer will find much support from “friendly troops,” and supportive friends.
Zebra: Since zebra’s are black and white they come to be a symbol that represents unity and harmony. It can also represent the ever-present struggle between the darkness and the light, or the pull of opposites.
Window: Looking out into other locations and into the distance is a sign of anticipation, and may suggest that this dream is something that is yet to come.
Secondary Symbols:
Driving: In this dream, the driver (dreamer) is in control of her life. Interestingly, the dreamer drives down a familiar street in the wrong direction which suggests that while the past can be explored via the mind, it cannot be relived. To attempt to restore past situations may lead the dreamer down the wrong road or in the wrong direction.
Death: Dying is a symbol of transformation, and change, no matter how small, is a form of death in some way.
Mother: The mother symbol contrasts the death symbol in this dream. The mother is the symbol of the nurturing of new beginnings.
Brother: Since siblings are so closely related, seeing one’s brother in a dream comes to represent seeing the masculine nature of the self. This is further emphasized by the appearance of the zebra later in the dream.
Aging: The predominant theme of aging, death, and change run throughout this dream. This suggests to the dreamer that although things age and change through time, death is merely a form of transformation which opens up new windows of opportunity for the dreamer.

Secondary Symbol Analysis:
As mentioned earlier, the giraffe is a symbol which comes to represent individuals that are willing to “risk their neck” in order to be of assistance. The fact that the dreamer tells her younger brother that “the jungle animals [are] living right outside the front door” is highly suggestive and conveys the fact that there are individuals of strong character willing to rise up from above the rest of the crowd to be of assistance: these individuals are located very nearby, and are quite possibly member’s of the dreamer’s family. The long neck of the Giraffe is also something that might suggest that the dreamer needs to look at things in his or her life from a newer angle or a fresh perspective. Since giraffes are capable of seeing the world from far above the ground, this may suggest to the dreamer that it is time to take an elevated view of a situation. The dreamer should also remember however, that the giraffe can be a warning not to over-extend one’s self or to become meddlesome in the affairs of others. The idea is that when one sticks his or her neck out for others, the individual may suffer in some way or the service may go unappreciated.
Since zebra’s are black and white they come to be a symbol that represents balance, unity, and harmony; this harmony may come in identifiable patterns, but not necessarily through predictability. The zebra’s pattern differs for each animal and therefore suggests that while balance is maintained, there may be some unpredictable occurrences in future for the dreamer. This can also indicate that dreamer will have no trouble maintaining harmony and balance even in unpredictable circumstances. The pattern of the zebra suggests a unification of opposite energies or forces as well, which may or may not be acquired via predictable means. One can also interpret a zebra to mean that the dreamer desires carefree time in nature or can gain balance by being out in nature.
The gorilla comes to represent friendship in this dream and the formation of new friendships and relationships. Interestingly, the dreamer possesses an awareness of her brother’s friend dying in this dream, but latter assures him that there are jungle animals just outside the front door. The gorilla signifies new relationships that will form after the death of an old relationship. The animals stand just outside a temple, a sacred space. This suggests that the dreamer is to find friends which serve to strengthen her belief system. It also suggests that answers can be found in spiritual pursuits and by returning to nature.

Full Interpretation: This dream may be a premonitory dream which is yet to be fulfilled or a spiritually/psychologically based healing dream. The dreamer may come into a situation that requires the assistance of others and the dreamer should be willing to trust the assistance he or she receives. This dream may also be a spiritually related dream where the dreamer can anticipate a balancing of masculine and feminine energies or the discovery of spiritual balance and harmony.
I was going into a popular mall but it was empty for this time of year. I was in the lobby outside of a store and I saw my younger brother and when I got closer I realized, my mother, also, sitting looking out the window.
This dream begins with the dreamer being in a mall, but little emphasis is placed on this location. Normally a mall would symbolize vast selection and materialism, but this dream downplays the importance of the mall. The dreamer sees her mother and brother from the outside lobby of the mall, and this suggests a new step into a new area. Since the mall is empty, the role of materialism is downplayed in this dream. An empty mall suggests a straying from materialism into higher realms of consciousness where materialism is far less important and other spiritual aspects become predominant. The mall may also come to mean that the dreamer has many new options that will be set before her and that the dreamer can freely pick and choose from the options presented.
It’s interesting to note that the dreamer’s brother and mother are looking out a window. A window separates the mother and brother from the outside world which suggests something that is being seen or viewed is not being seen for what it truly is. A window suggests separation from what is being viewed and it will therefore be necessary for the dreamer to make a real connection with what is being viewed in order to fully understand it. While a window will permit one to see things, the window itself represents a thing that stands between the viewer and the object being viewed; windows can therefore suggest a lack of clarity into issues or concerns.
The mother and brother present in this dream connote family matters which need resolution; this family does not necessarily point to one’s immediate family but can also represent a family of friends or coworkers as well. Since the mother is presented in this dream, the dreamer is being encouraged to remain nurturing, particularly in relation to new experiences about to be birthed. Meanwhile, the brother in this dream can come to represent the masculine side of the dreamer and a need to balance both feminine and male energies.
Somehow in the dream I knew my brother's friend had passed away (note, he has a friend from high school who has a terminal illness she was born with; she is in hospice now but has not passed). So, I went over to try to talk to him because in the dream I knew he had just been to the funeral and he wasn’t really talking about it.
The potential death of the dreamer’s brother’s friend is suggestive of upcoming changes which may at first invoke a state of mourning, but that will later reveal that the change in situation is for the better. In order for change to occur a state of something must die or transform. This change will be a new window of opportunity, although it may not immediately seem like that is the case. The knowledge of a funeral attendance is the acknowledgment that one chapter must close for a new one to be opened. The dreamer seeks to assist her brother in working through a period of mourning; this suggests that the dreamer, when faced with significant change, will want to embrace masculine energies and be strong and assertive when face with such change. In doing so, the dreamer will be better able to maintain balance in all things.
Then I noticed my mother's hair had gone completely gray and white (it is now light brown just a few grays) and I almost did not recognize her and she did not have much to say.
Even the mother in this dream undergoes change and appears differently in the dream than she does in real life. The grays are a sign of natural aging and since the dreamer almost did not recognize her own mother in this dream she may not immediately recognize a situation for what it is due to a rapid or sudden change in circumstances. The gray hairs are also highly suggestive here suggesting that through the application of wisdom the dreamer will be able to navigate her way through the changes that occur.
Next scene it flips to me driving my car with my brother as passenger, driving up the street I grew up on. I am driving up the wrong way as it is a one way street in real life but I didn’t seem to notice.
There is a loss of continuity in this dream as the dream shifts into a different scene. This interruption may be significant suggesting that the change that is to come may serve to interrupt the dreamer’s mundane life in a significant way. The fact that the dreamer is driving a car in a familiar area is suggesting that the dreamer will remain in full control of her life despite the doubts that she might have. However, it should be noted that the dreamer is heading in the wrong direction down a one-way street and does not have the full knowledge of the fact that she is driving in the wrong direction. This is a warning that the dreamer should not take life directions that feel wrong and that she must attune herself to her intuitive nature in order to make important life decisions. It is also suggestive that the dreamer cannot go backward in time, only forward because to pursue the past is to regress, not progress.
The temple is a sacred location one where the dreamer would worship the divine essence as she perceives it to be. The dreamer only sees the temple but does not enter it. This may be a suggestion to look to one’s own faith for answers and security when life changes seem difficult. The brother has seemingly no awareness of this temple, and this may suggest that it is not always easy to see the simplest solution to a pending problem, even if the answer is right before the individual seeking answers. Here, the dreamer again mentions windows which can indicate that something is not being seen with complete clarity or that there still remains more to be seen in a situation.

This suggests that the dreamer is to find friends which serve to strengthen her belief system. It also suggests that answers can be found in spiritual pursuits and by returning to nature.
Recommendations:
It is recommended that the dreamer turn to friends and family when changing events arise for support. The dreamer is encouraged to seek answers from the divine and to maintain faith that a solution is at hand. The dreamer is further encouraged to attuned to her masculine energies, to listen to her intuitive nature, and to remain calm throughout pending changes. An answer is close at hand and even closer than the dreamer realizes. An upcoming situation may seem unclear but the solution is identified in maintaining balance in all things. The dreamer should expect the unpredictable, but should also know that it is something that can be handled with greater ease than the dreamer might first imagine.
“That was amazing!!!! Thank you so much. I was having a good laugh initially but it had been a vivid dream so I didn’t want to just dismiss it. I see many things you point out that make sense, and some which have not manifested yet, but when they do I know I will be ready.”
